The third aspect of the
programme is the Spineline
service, which is a rapid response emergency service
which operates from a national toll free number
0800 678 678. This
service and it’s correct use are explained in
the Rugby Medic Club Training Programme.
The Chris Burger/Petro Jackson
Players’ Fund together with S.A. Rugby has identified
the need for an organised rapid response transport
system to assist rugby players who may suffering
from head and spinal injuries.
In the event of a serious
injury, the Spineline
toll free number 0800 678 678
should be dialled. Netcare 911 will dispatch an
emergency vehicle to the scene to transport the
injured player to an appropriate medical facility
for further treatment. If the patient is not on
medical aid then the cost of the transport will
be borne by Netcare 911. Please contact the Fund
for your complimentary whistle strap with the
Spineline number on it.
